The design process behind the iconic knife holder.

The design process behind the iconic knife holder.

We wanted something completely different.

When we started designing the knife holder, we wanted to create something unique that stood out from the other knife holders on the market. We wanted something completely different. Our goal was to create something more organic – something that evoked the experience of sticking knives into a tree stump.

We kept returning to the idea of knives stuck into a tree stump. Every child loves sticking knives into a tree stump. Is it the sound? Is it the resistance? Or is it the feeling of pushing the knife into the raw wood? There is something magical and playful about that experience, and it was exactly that feeling we wanted to recreate.

One thing was certain: This idea had a special quality that laid the foundation for the design of the original Endeavour knife holder, which has since become so popular. The knife holder has become an icon – a product that stands firmly on its foundation and only grows more beautiful with time.

The product’s creation and features.

During the development of the knife holder, we focused on several challenges that were crucial for us:

  • The knives had to be stored safely and practically.
  • It had to be easy to place and remove the knives.
  • Cleaning the knife holder had to be simple.
  • We aimed for a natural expression in the materials.
  • The product had to exude elegance and iconic design.

A kind of freedom..

The concept of an insert made up of thin sticks allowed us to place the knives in the holder in a playful way, giving the user freedom to experiment with the arrangement. The insert inside the knife holder also allow for a smooth and easy removal of the knives without unnecessary resistance from strong magnets – a kind of freedom.

It became clear to us.

The outer shell is made of bamboo, and the stick insert can be easily removed and cleaned, ensuring the knife holder stays pristine. This was particularly important for us as professionals.

The choice of bamboo gives the product a natural expression that plastic or steel cannot match. The knife holder almost takes on a pleasant aura that invites use.

When the idea came to life, and we successfully integrated the concept of placing a knife in a tree stump as a design element, it became clear to us that this knife holder was not only unique but also elegant and functionally well thought out.

We know our product is the real deal.

By storing your knives correctly and safely, you can preserve their sharpness for a longer time. By placing the knives vertically between the sticks in the knife holder's insert, you ensure a practical and secure storage solution. Protecting the knives so they remain sharp has always been one of our top priorities. "It’s probably our experience as professional chefs that drives our focus on this elegant solution."

All in all, this is a knife holder that is not only functionally superior but also stands out with its unique design and functionality.

This iconic knife holder, inspired by childhood games of placing a dagger into a tree stump by the campfire, has been copied countless times – often in the form of direct imitations.

Let them. We know that our knife holder is solid, functional, and a unique design, created from exceptional ideas and thoroughness. Otherwise, why would they copy it? We are fully confident that, in the end, people will choose the original.
