Over time, all items lose some of their shine and color, and this applies to fiber cutting boards, even though they are 100% through-dyed. However, this is not a major issue. You can easily restore your cutting board to its original beauty and vibrancy, both in sheen and color. This is something you don’t need to do frequently – it can be called "seasonal care", which is something you do a couple of times a year, depending on need.
Here’s how to do it:
- Wash the cutting board thoroughly: Start by washing the cutting board that needs a little extra care. Be sure to dry it well so it is completely dry.
- Apply Bees Wax: Rub a thin layer of our Bees Wax (or a food-safe oil) into the cutting board. Cover the entire surface and allow the wax to absorb into the material for a couple of minutes.
- Wipe off excess: Use a clean dish towel to wipe off any excess wax, leaving the board with a nice, even finish.
