Guide to care and maintenance of fiber cutting boards.
We will walk you through the necessary steps.
Our fiber cutting boards are made from a special blend of wood fibers and resin binders, which gives them strength, durability, and natural resistance to bacteria and odors.
To ensure that your fiber cutting board remains functional and looks great for many years, it requires a bit of care. Fortunately, it's easy to keep it in top condition. This guide will walk you through the necessary steps to maintain your cutting board, ensuring it continues to perform optimally.
Daily cleaning of fiber cutting boards
Our fiber cutting boards are dishwasher safe, as they neither expand nor crack like regular wooden cutting boards can. However, they may lose some of their shine over time, especially when exposed to salt and harsh detergents in the dishwasher. Therefore, we recommend regularly oiling the board with our Bees Wax to preserve its original color and appearance.
The gentlest method of cleaning is to wash the board by hand. Follow these simple steps:
How to properly store your fiber cutting board.
Store the cutting board in a dry place: Make sure to store your fiber cutting board in a dry area. Avoid storing it in humid environments, as moisture can cause the material to warp and lose its shape over time.
Fiber care – but not too often.
Over time, all items lose some of their shine and color, and this applies to fiber cutting boards, even though they are 100% through-dyed. However, this is not a major issue. You can easily restore your cutting board to its original beauty and vibrancy, both in sheen and color. This is something you don’t need to do frequently – it can be called "seasonal care", which is something you do a couple of times a year, depending on need.
Here’s how to do it:
- Wash the cutting board thoroughly: Start by washing the cutting board that needs a little extra care. Be sure to dry it well so it is completely dry.
- Apply Bees Wax: Rub a thin layer of our Bees Wax (or a food-safe oil) into the cutting board. Cover the entire surface and allow the wax to absorb into the material for a couple of minutes.
- Wipe off excess: Use a clean dish towel to wipe off any excess wax, leaving the board with a nice, even finish.
This way, your fiber cutting board will look like new again – easily and effectively.
Repairing marks and scratches.
It’s completely natural for a cutting board to get scratches and visible marks over time – it’s a tool we use directly for working with heavy and sharp objects. But don’t worry! You can easily make your fiber cutting board look almost like new again. Here is a simple and quick guide to repairing scratches and marks:
