From idea to finished: The design behind the fiber cutting board.

Small details make a big difference.

A cutting board is an indispensable partner in any kitchen. It provides a stable and functional surface for slicing, chopping, and preparing ingredients. Our cutting boards come in a variety of sizes, colors, and features, designed to protect both knives and work surfaces from unnecessary wear. A good cutting board is not only a practical tool – it optimizes cooking, enhances safety, and extends the life of your knives.

When we set out to design an entirely new series of cutting boards, it was not just about creating a functional tool. We wanted to rethink the entire category and develop a cutting board that is not only practical but also aesthetically appealing.

Four fundamental principles.

Our vision was to create a cutting board built on four fundamental principles:

  • Top-notch functionality
  • Stylish design
  • Durable material
  • Natural aesthetics

A cutting board that balances practical usability with aesthetic beauty and transforms an everyday necessity into a stylish element in your kitchen.

Let’s dive into the perfection of the material.

In our search for the ideal material, it was crucial to find a balance between function and aesthetics. We had clear requirements: The material had to be durable enough to withstand the constant wear a cutting board is subjected to, while maintaining its shape and stability over time. It should be able to handle repeated cleaning without cracking, bending, or losing its visual appeal.
We were looking for a material that could combine the best aspects of both wood and plastic. The natural warmth of wood and the pleasant feel of working with it were important factors, along with its antibacterial properties. On the other hand, we needed the hardness and resilience of plastic, especially when it comes to cleaning and long-lasting durability.

Turned out to be the solution.

Our discovery of organic compressed fibers – an innovative material made by pressing cellulose fibers and resin together under high pressure – turned out to be the solution. Organic fiber retains many of the natural qualities of wood, such as the soft, pleasant surface and warm glow, but also combines the durability and resistance of plastic. It is a material that can be cleaned in the dishwasher without damage – no cracks, deformation, or discoloration.

All in all, organic fiber offers a perfect fusion of nature’s beauty and technology’s strength. For us, it was clear that this was the material of the future for creating a cutting board that is both functional and aesthetic – unique in its expression and effective in its use.

Iconic design meets function.

The complete series of organic fiber cutting boards was created with a tailored approach to each task. Let’s explore the design process.

The concept behind the series was to create a cutting board that exudes a sleek aesthetic while being naturally and pleasingly viewable. By using organic fiber, we had a material that could be shaped thinly yet still maintain a solid weight, giving it a sense of quality.
The processing, with rounded edges and soft curves in the juice grooves, along with the final polishing, adds a soft elegance that balances between refinement and the desired tactile feel.

All cutting boards are equipped with four silicone feet that ensure stability even in wet conditions. These feet provide a luxurious feel when handling the board.

We could have chosen to add handles or hanging holes to the cutting board, but we wanted to avoid unnecessary disruptions to the practical and functional design. Our approach is to design cutting boards that do exactly what they are meant to – serve as the perfect platform for cooking.

Elegance and functionality in perfect harmony.

The series is designed with a focus on both color and functionality. We have chosen deep, elegant shades like Night Black and the softer Forest Brown, both of which exude timeless elegance.
Our cutting boards come in various sizes and thicknesses, tailored to specific functional needs. For example, when filleting a large fish, it’s important to choose a cutting board that is the right size for the task. On the other hand, if you’re looking for a small, elegant board to slice tomatoes for lunch, a more compact design would be ideal. The series also includes cutting boards with juice grooves – perfect for carving roasts or poultry.

A cutting board should be reliable, easy to clean, and maintain its condition over time. At the same time, it should be so beautiful that you wouldn’t hesitate to leave it on the kitchen counter for display.
Our journey towards the perfect cutting board has been long and challenging, but we are proud to present a truly unique and groundbreaking series of cutting boards made from organic fibers – a fusion of function, aesthetics, and sustainability.
