VG10 Steel; More potent than other good steels.

Japanese VG10 steel forms the core of the series. Only specialty knives like the flexible fish knives are made from German Mov stainless steel. VG10 serves as the core steel onto which 33 layers are forged on each side to protect the hard edge - resulting in a blade that is generally harder and sharper than other steel types. This forging technique is used to achieve the best cutting experience. This way, you get an incredibly light and powerful tool for your kitchen.

Japanese VG10 steel is a protected trademark developed by Takefu Special Steel in Japan and possesses unique properties. With a blend of 15% chromium, 1% molybdenum, and 1.5% cobalt, this steel is engineered to deliver high hardness and consequently, long-lasting sharpness. The addition of vanadium refines the microstructure, and when combined with chromium and molybdenum, creates an abundance of hard carbides that enhance the knife's durability. Due to VG10 steel's special properties, it has convinced us to choose it as the main material in the Discovery Pro series.

These layers, 33 on each side of the core steel, create a resilient and robust structure. The core steel undergoes a stringent hardening process, reaching temperatures above 1000°C. This intense heat transforms the steel, making it incredibly strong and resistant to wear. After the hardening process, the steel is rapidly cooled to below -180°C, further enhancing its hardness and stability. This meticulously executed process ensures that our knives achieve an extreme hardness of 60-61 HRC, resulting in exceptional cutting performance.

Over time, pakka wood, like any other natural wood, may lose some of its color and sheen. However, there's no need to worry, as reviving the beauty of the handle is a simple process. By applying oil or Endeavour's specially designed Beeswax to the handle, you can easily restore its vibrant glow. Apply the oil or wax to the handle, allowing it to soak for a few minutes. This will nourish the wood and restore its radiance. Then, thoroughly wipe off any excess oil or wax. By following these steps, you can effectively rejuvenate the handle and bring back its luster.
